Physical Education (PE)
Physical Education at DILS will aim to develop pupils that are both physically and mentally healthy, conscientious and respectful, who take an active interest in sport and physical activity. Through a diverse and engaging, all through, curriculum, students will learn how to develop and evaluate skills and techniques in a range of different activities as well as gaining vital experience in leadership, coaching and officiating. Students will develop competence to, engage and excel in a variety of competitive physical activities as well as being capable of being physically active for sustained periods of time.
Why is PE important?
Physical education provides cognitive content and instruction designed to develop motor skills, knowledge, and behaviours for physical activity and physical fitness. Supporting children to establish a routine of physical education can provide pupils with the ability and confidence to be physically active for a lifetime.
How is PE taught?
PE is taught through a combination of subject knowledge and skill building. Learning takes place both inside and outside the classroom.
